Here's what's going on in the upcoming weeks...
Instructional DVD Release!
My instructional DVD, Modern Tribal Bellydance with Asharah , produced by WorldDanceNewYork, is available for pre-order!
This DVD is aimed for the advanced-beginner and intermediate dancer looking to polish her technique and add a touch of mechanical and robotic movement to her practice and performances. After a rigorous warm-up, Asharah will lead you through a series of intermediate drills and isolations. Then she'll teach you how to break down traditional bellydance movements into smaller and punctuated parts to achieve a ticking and strobing effect. Then she'll lead you though six short cominations that compose a short choreography. The DVD also features two performances by Asharah. Music by Maduro, Venetian Snares, Hecate, and Cdatakill.

January 19th 6pm-10pm; X - Collaborative Art Experiment
Washington, DC
"X" is a creative amalgamation of live art including three graphic designers, electronica music acts, tribal belly dancers, independent fashion designers and other local artists that collaborate for a four hour, 21st century Live-Art "Happening". X begins at 6pm and ends promptly at 10pm, and takes place at BeBar, 1318 9th St. NW , Washington, DC. Asharah will perform twice with live electronic/IDM artists. January 27th; Tribal Cafe,
Washington, DC
Performance at DCTribalCafe in Adams Morgan! Doors open at 6pm, and show begins at 7pm, $10 at the door. Come enjoy great belly dance performances, as well as great food, company, and DJ sets between the dancers by Mellie Mel! Check it out on MySpace. 2471 18th St NW, Washington, DC.
February 9th, 4:38pm; Gothla,
Los Angeles, CA
Performance at the first annual Gothla, hosted by Tempest, Anaar, Ariellah, and Sashi. Workshops, vending, performances, and a wicked afterparty for the dark dancer. It all takes place at the Imperial Ballroom, 114 E Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, California. Check out the event on the web at www.gothla.com
February 23rd; Palace of Wonders,
Washington, DC
An all-tribal bellydance night at the Palace of Wonders! Featured performers include Asharah, Belladonna, Ebony, Eugenia, Jennifer Hodge, and Mavi. Show begins at 9pm.
