hi all,

15th August, 2012, everyone in the country was celebrating the 65th Independence Day and so was Asha Mumbai with the children and their parents as the guests!

The celebration ceremony was conducted at Powai English School under guidance of Dr. Smita Puniyani, Coordinator of Asha Mumbai Chapter. Everyone enthusiastically participated throughout the program making it a great success and fun for the childen and their parents. The programme began with prayer performance by the students followed by the welcoming of the chief guest by presenting them with bouquet. The chief guest invited for the ceremony were: Mr Bahukhandi, Retired IOL officer , Mr. Appukuttan, Member of powai citizen committee and ardent social worker, Mr. Agastya , Animation professional with social commitment, Mr.Ramchandran, Founder of NGO “Our Children” & Mr. Abhay Singh, TV actor in show “Hata Sawan Ki Ghata” on TV9.
The entertainment for the guests began with performance of a play. The play excellently conveyed the message of “Gender Equality” to the audience. The program proceeded with the dance performance by the students on various patriotic songs. After the dance, there was felicitation of the two students studying in Asha who had passed their SSC with great excellence. Finally, Mr Bahukhandi entertained the all by their magic show which is his hobby. The children, especially, were very much excited for the show and had lot of fun. The program ended with thanking of the members of Asha who made this ceremony a success and were applauded for their efforts and time they give for the children and Asha Mumbai.
