MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 28th JANUARY 2013

Members present: Dr. Smita, Ms. Meena Iyer, Ms. Sangeetha, Mr. Nikhil and Mr. Ashish Zore

Main Agenda: Support a Child Project (SAC)

 

Points Discussed:

I. SAC

  1. Mr. Nikhil explained the working of the SAC project. The online forms to be filled were shown. Also the Chennai and Bangalore ASHA SAC sites were shown.
  2. Dr. Smita has already compiled a list of 20 ASHA children deserving scholarship.
  3. It was decided that we will choose these 20 children from ASHA, 5 from Nandurbar (Asha Stanford Chapter projects), 10 from Aai Anathalay, Aurangabad,  5 nominated by Dr. Sujit, (Asha Javhar Project) and 5 from NGO Vidya. The aim of this is to extend the services of ASHA to the entire community and not just ASHA children only.
  4. The following procedure is to be followed for implementing the SAC project:
    1. The students will be nominated by  Asha volunteers- Nominators. It is the responsibility of the Nominator to ensure that the information filled up is accurate.
    2. The hard copy ASHA scholarship forms need to be filled up for each student.
    3. This information will then be filled online in the form with nominator details.
    4. Thus the information will be available online and sponsors can directly contact us.
    5. The forms of 3 children who are already receiving scholarship –can be filled up online immediately and their sponsors can also fill up the relevant form online.
    6. The deadline for completing the entire procedure was set on 15th February 2013.
  5. Asha Mumbai has received funds of Rs. 110000/- for Mumbai SAC project. Rs. 10000/- will be used for operational expenses like scanning, internet, photocopying etc.

Rs. 1,00,000/- will be utilized for students who may not get supporters. Decisions will be taken in Apr-May meeting.

It was unanimously decided that Mr. Feroz-an ASHA student will be given an honorarium of Rs. 500/- per month for helping with all administrative work especially for the SAC project (Xeroxing, sending couriers etc.)

 

 

II. Other matters

  1. It was decided that we can replace the existing MTNL telephone with a new offer where both telephone and internet facilities are available at a monthly rate of Rs. 650/-. Otherwise we need to pay 500 for the internet and 225 for the monthly telephone bill.
  2. The new printer and scanner will be kept in ASHA center after building a wooden partition where only the computer attached to the printer-scanner will be placed under lock and key. This facility will be used by students under supervision of one of the teachers to prevent misuse.
