MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 19th September, 2011
Date: 19th September, 2011 Venue: Ms. Sangeetha’s home, Powai, Mumbai.
Members Present: Dr. Smita, Ms. Sangeetha, Ms Latha, Mr. Krishna, Dr. Pramod Bankar, Mr. Jayesh, Mr. Harsha, Mr. Chetan, Ms. apoorva, Mr. Nikhil
Agenda of Meeting:
1. Updates of Projects
2. Sales of various products made by Asha Children
3. Proposals of new projects
4. Promotion of Asha
5. Miscellaneous
1) Updates of Projects:
a) Agashi Knowledge Initiative:
i) Mr. Krishna gave updates of Agashi Knowledge initiative project.
ii) A range of activities were managed successfully like Cleaning of Arnala Beach, Environment friendly Ganesh Festival and Various Competitions on environment subject for school students etc.
iii) Updates will be published on asha website.
iv) Workshop on Environment Education for Teachers will be held in the month of October with the help of other project partners.
b) Asha Mumbai Center:
i) Mrs. Sangeetha and Dr. Smita presented updates of Asha Mumbai Center.
ii) Center celebrated Independence Day and many students who have made various products like Greetings are awarded with Shares of Profit.
iii) Center requires two cupboards (~ Rs. 10,000/-).
2) Sales of various products made by Asha Children:
i) Asha Children make a variety of beautiful artifacts like greeting cards, Diya, Marriage Invitation Cards etc. with the help of Asha Volunteer Mrs. Ritu.
ii) We have successful experience of sales of these products in India and Abroad.
iii) Dr. Bankar suggested that help of Railway Welfare Department can be taken for exhibition in hall.
3) Proposals of New Projects:
a) Arogyaseva Leadership Development Initiative Asha Parivar mNrega-RTI Community Education & Awareness Program:
i) Main objective will be to create mNrega awareness among people by training young local activists, develop their leadership around the issue and deliver the real benefits of mNrega.
ii) From the funds allocated through various programs under Arogyaseva Javhar project, Arogyaseva have allocated Rs. 1.43lakhs to initiative and further funds will be raised by local volunteers.
b) Documentary Creations:
i) Ms. Apoorva has experience of documentaries creation with the help of some NGOs. She and Mr. Chetan already have started working on documentary on Sandip Pande’s India-Pak Peace March.
ii) Funds can be raised with the help of other Asha Chapters.
c) Sponsor a Child:
i) Sponsor a Child project can be implanted in Asha Mumbai chapter as it is strong need.
ii) We can raise local funds for this project.
4) Promotion of Asha:
Asha Mumbai will work on promotion of all activities of Asha Mumbai Chapter through various ways.
a) Website:
i) Asha Mumbai will keep updating Asha Mumbai activities on website. Appearance of website must be good.
b) Conference:
i) Asha for Education is big family and various projects are running very smoothly in Maharashtra State with the help of various Asha Chapter all over the world.
ii) Conference can act as platform to gather these entire Asha project Volunteers to share their experiences, success stories and problems. Conference will create good social network among all projects and it will benefit in future surely.
iii) First, Asha Mumbai will collect the all activities in Maharashtra and updates will be posted soon.
c) Promotion in Local Area:
i) We can promote our work in local area by writing articles in local news papers, blogs, using social websites and exhibition of Artwork made by Asha Children. New ideas are invited in this area from all other volunteers.
5) Miscellaneous:
a) Dr. Bankar suggested that picnics of Asha Children can be arranged for knowledge exposure. It can be done with the help of Railway Welfare Department as Indian railway charges for travel and accommodations are very less.
b) Asha Mumbai has not received already sanctioned fund (~ Rs. 6 lac). Dr. Smita and Mr. Harsha will take care of this very serious issue.
