ABOUT SURANJANA BOSE

Suranjana Bose, one of the rising stars of Indian classical and semi classical music, is a worthy representative of the country's rich musical heritage to the outside world. An exponent of Patiala Gharana, Suranjana is also proficient in Thumri, Dadra, Bhajan and Bengali Songs.  In a very short span of her ascending career she has gained a matured approach towards the presentation of her knowledge.  A talented singer of the younger generation, her immaculate style and flawless presentation has swayed the stalwarts of this music to her favor. Despite her brilliant academic background, she choose to devote herself completely to her equally brilliant classical music career. Suranjana received her initial training in classical music from Pt.Hariprasad Das and later she had the privilege of being a disciple of Late Pt. Prasun Bandopadhya and Meera Bandopadhdya of Patiala Gharana and doyen of Thumri, Dr. Girija Devi of Benaras Gharana .But her thirst of knowledge was not quenched and she was fortunate to come under the tutelage and kind patronage of several renowned singers like Purabi Dutta, Sukumar Mitra, Amalendu Bikash Kar Choudhury, Dilip Das, Mandira Lahiri, and noteworthy Pt. Ajay Chakraborty. Hence it's no wonder that Suranjana has cut a deep niche for herself in other light classical genres apart from Thumri, Dadra, Khayal and Bhajan.

ABOUT JASWINDER SETHI

Jaswinder Sethi received his initial training in the Lucknow Gharana or style of Tabla playing from Shri . Srisundar at The Swarmandal school of Music in Mumbai, India. The Lucknow Gharana is known for its sweet and crisp 'bols' or sounds, highly influenced by the Katthak dance form. Jaswinder then received advanced training from the great maestro Ustad Alla Rakha Khan. Saheb. During this time, Jaswinder imbibed the more open bol or 'khullabaaz' style of the Punjab Gharana, tempered by the maestro's own characteristic melodic style. Jaswinder excels both as a solo artist and accompanying artist, and is a very promising and much sought after artist in the Seattle area. He enjoys Indian classical and light music, and loves to experiment. He also has a Masters in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas, Arlington and works as a software engineer at Microsoft.

ABOUT ASHIM BHAUMIK

Music has been Ashim Bhaumik's passion from his childhood. He learnt tabla for a short while from Shri Kashinath Chakraborty, a disciple of Pt. Kanai Dutta. He soon realized that he was inclined more towards vocal music and started learning Bengali as well as light classical songs on his own from recorded music and taught himself harmonium to go with his vocals. During his college years, he was trained in Hindustani Classical music by his uncle Pt. Sudhindra Bhaumik, a disciple of Late Pt. K.G. Ginde, Pt. Dinkar Kaikini and later Pt. Sunil Bose of SRA Calcutta. During these years Ashim came in contact with many luminaries in the Classical Music world in Bombay and Calcutta and has been deeply influenced by them. Since his move the United States in 1992, Ashim has been associated with a number of cultural organizations and more recently, in Seattle with Pratidhwani, where he is a regular performer in Pratidhwani's light music group.
