I am trying to copy and paste translated Nepali text into Indesign. I downloaded Adobe Devanagari and it is working to the extent that there are no longer boxes with Xs in them, but it is not copying and pasting correctly (e.g.):
I cannot read/speak/write Nepali, but these do not look the same to me. I have updated the Paragraph Style so that it is in the same font as the font itself. I have tried Nimala UI which also seems to be a Nepali-friendly font (but still has the same issue). I have not done anything with Unicode because I don't really have a good understanding. Any advice/quick workarounds appreciated. Thanks!
Check the Languages in System Preferences > Languages & Text. You will need to edit the list adding any additional languages you want, with Devanagari right down the bottom of the list, along with possible explicit Nepali support (I can't read to distinguish).
Does the document not open at all? Do you really need to use exactly those fonts? OS X comes with fonts for Nepali already installed (they have Devanagari in their name) and Calibri is just a standard Windows Latin font.
You don't change language by changing fonts on any modern Unicode system. You have to change the keyboard layout (system prefs/keyboard/input sources) to Nepali. Devanagari fonts are normally used for Hindi, Nepali, Marathi, and several other languages.
As Peter said, your document may be in some non-standard encoding, in which case if would have to find a copy of the non-standard font that was used to create it. I'd recommend you not create such documents yourself but stick to Unicode which is the international standard and supported out of the box by all computers these days.
I have already downloaded various Nepali fonts from online and can successfully write with them in my still title panel, however when I copy&paste the Nepali from notepad (even after stripping it of rich text formatting) into PP I get a bunch of rectangles. I have shifted settings to accept Middle Eastern and Asian languages in the Preferences panel, and yet still no improvement!
Currently tried working on this on a Windows system with most up to date creative cloud version of Premiere Pro and on a Macbook with PP2014. Any suggestions, clarifications if this is a system error, or solutions are welcome. Please let me know if you need any additional information? I am on a deadline and know this subtitling is out of my scope, but cannot currently afford to find someone to take over professionally completing it due to time constraints.
I know it's because of the font issue but is there any fix for this ?I want to copy paste the exact same string into android studio but I can't even copy the exact same string in google translate or browser. It changes into gibberish.
I am working on a English to Nepali translation for an Android app. I received the Nepali text in a word doc. I have the same problem that you mentioned. The word font is Preeti, and Android Studio needs unicode, which word calls Mangal in this case. I found this tool to convert. You can paste the results directly into your Nepali strings.xml.
I'm new to LaTeX and I'm trying to learn it. It is very interesting. I have to type a lot of documents that contain Devnagari text, more precisely Nepali Language. How can I type it using LaTeX, so that I could make beautiful document in my own language?
You could use Charles Wikner's Sanskrit package, available from CTAN. With this package, you would enter transliterated text and it would be converted into Devanagari (it does ligatures properly if I remember correctly).
babel provides partial support for Nepali in XeTeX and LuaTeX, but you may need to supply the captions yourself. An example for LuaTeX is (I've used a Windows font, but you can select another font of your choice):
When aligning and translating documents, the Nepali target text comes up as nonsensical groupings of Latin characters. Since it seemed that the Preeti font was not compatible in the Alignment view, I tried pasting the Nepali content by segment into the xliff file, with the same result.
Yes, when using the "Advanced Editing Options", and also by dragging the files/images into the text box, I get an error message saying the file types are not allowed. The images don't appear no matter what dimensions I set.
It started to be more annoying as I would get emails in Nepali font, and I would have to check it on a computer.
So after tinkering around, I am happy to report that I have a solution.
This is how I solved it:
Download the Font (DroidSansFallback.ttf) on your SDCard:

You will need to install android SDK on your computer to get the ADB shell. It is a little time consuming but android developer portal has documented steps on how to install the SDK. Hope that helps

I probably should update the process again, As Shrawan mentioned in his comment, you may be able to u just use any of the File Explorer program with root access and install it that way as well. I myself have not tried it yet. Let me know if that works. I might play around with it and update my post.

An alternate solution (for others who might have a similar issue) is to use one of the more standard, default fonts in ArcMap such as Arial. What I've done to create maps in Dari is to have all my locations and features (what I want labelled) in an Excel document. In Excel, I can ensure that all my feature names and labels are correct (or have a language specialist do that), then run an Excel to Table process. After joining the new table to the features I want to label, labels displayed in a default (English) font will still be in the proper alphabet and retain structure and properties. This may not be ideal in the sense that you cannot precisely control the presentation and design of the font, but it will export to PDF or any other format without issue.
Do you mean you wish to translate your number 2020 or say 2019 and so on that has been boxed in red (outlined below) to २०२०, २०१९, २०१८, २०१७ and so on while still using the English label?
OK, i found out the issue here. If you simply view the year that is in Nepali font (Unicode) in D14 you will see it being displayed in Nepali font (inside the sheet) but if you view the same thing in the status bar boxed in red you will still see the same thing in English (shown in the image below).
You may see if you can change the language to Neppali on general in your account settings Enketo (or in general settings for Collect on local device). This might bring ypur language (as far as system is translated).
