I think that the airsoft spotters job is to provide an extra pair of
eyes, and to provide sniper security. A military spotter's job is to
acquire targets, confirm hits, and provide security. A sniper and a
spotter are also interchangable. A sniper must be qualified to spot,
and vice versa a spotter. An airsoft spotter is often most useful with
a bolt action sniper partner. The spotter's weapon should be a mid-
long range semi-auto shoulder fired weapon with some sort of visual
enhancer (scope/(mon)binoculars etc...). When a spotter acquires a
target he must bring it to the snipers attention, calculate distance,
wind, etc... While the sniper is at work the spotter should maintain
360 degree security. If an unwanted guest arrives the spotter must
engage such enemy with (non)deadly force. If the spotter was absent a
bolt action rifle would not match up to a patrolman with a usual semi-
automatic weapon.
