Dear Friends in Christ
Greetings to you all in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I hope this message finds you in good health.
It is that time of the year again where Anglican students prepare to come together with students from all around the Anglican Church of Southern Africa to be filled with lots of Spiritual Growth and to be empowered at ASF conference. As the conference is about to happen it is upon us to prepare ourselves for this life changing event and it is up to me and you to make this upcoming conference a success, your An’soc will have to work hard in preparing for the conference to avoid disappointments.
This is the first of many letters and information source telling you more about the ASF 54th Annual Provincial Conference. The Theme for the 54th Provincial conference is “UKUQAQAMBA EKONENI YAM” translated “BEING BRIGHT IN MY CORNER” in English and with this theme we will be looking at the role of each member, An’soc in the life of ASF and the Anglican Church.
Venue
The Provincial conference 2014 will take place at Kimiad Christian Centre – HEIDELBERG in the East Rand of Johannesburg. Directions will be supplied to everyone upon registration for the conference.
Conference Dates
Conference will be from the 29TH JUNE – 04TH JULY 2014. The opening Eucharist will be held on the 29th June at 18h00 at the above mentioned venue where the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Highveld will preside and Preach at the opening service. Delegates are urged to arrive early at the conference venue in time for registration, supper and the opening Eucharist service.
Conference Fees
The conference fee is R700.00 per Student and Chaplains and R1400.00 for ASF friends and bus drivers. This fee includes accommodation, meals, conference pack and a t/shirt. You are also requested to bring your own toiletries, bedding and other things you might need.
An’socs will be liable for members who paid deposits and not attend the conference.
The conference fee/deposit is non-refundable
Deposits
For this year’s conference we are looking at a maximum of 180 delegates. To make sure that you are counted amongst these numbers, please register as soon as possible Please find with this letter a copy of the registration and indemnity form, make copies for all your delegates. This registration forms must be submitted back to ASF office together with the deposit of R350.00 or the full conference fee of R700.00. No registration form will be considered without a Deposit. The due date for sending in your deposits and registration is 13 June 2014 and no extensions will be allowed.
The registration form must be signed by the chaplain.
Each region is requested to prepare an envelope (Mojikelo) of R500.
As you prepare for conference please remember/ note the following:
- No political structures {t-shirts} and caps will be worn, for the duration of the conference
- No political jargon to be used during conference when calling fellow ASFers e.g. chief or comrade, strictly brother or fellow ASFer or name of a person.
