I've use aseprite a while and want to enhance it. The function which I want to work on is layer blend mode.
Should I just start writing codes or could I,  since there might be some one already worked on it.

Hi there Liang,

It's a little tricky, I was planning to implement this for v1.1 anyway (using Pixman library). My personal recommendation is to try to solve something smaller, so I can see how you work, and them you could try to fix this bigger issue (which I suppose it will be quite a big patch, and will require a lot of review/testing).

Also I'm preparing a special process for big patches, I'll see if I can publish it tonight

I've published the process to contribute substantial patches:

Got it, I'll try to solve smaller issue first to familiar with the code
architecture.
