Since the beginning of this club, we have simply called it "the
library club." That may not really be the best name - so, what would
you call it?

The mission of YTC Library Club/Friends of the YTC Library is to
provide information literacy programs for our students; engaging
activities and displays for the college community; and community
service programs and projects.

The college has plans of developing a "Learning Commons;" in which the
library will be a part of, so what in the world would that mean?

If Learning = the acquisition of knowledge AND

If Commons = refers to an area that belongs to the entire community -
in our case - the York Technical College Community

So, what do you think? I would like to hear from everyone!

1. What would you expect from a learning commons?
2. What would you find when you go to a learning commons?
3. What would you expect to do in a learning commons?
4. With the idea of becoming part of a learning commons at York Tech,
is there a better name for our club?

Remember, this is both a York Tech club as well as a "Friend of the
YTC Libary" group which means alumni and others interested in the
events of the library are welcomed.

I will post all comments both in the club group and in the library
(similar questions are being listed on our critical thinking board)

Finally, if you are no longer interested in being a part of this club,
please email me at djo...@yorktech.edu to request your name to be
removed from the list. Also, if you know someone who would like to
join the club - or conversation about the club, send me their name.

Hoping that you are having a great Fall Semester!
Debbie Jones
