ASCIIMathML on Apple Safari

I have a web page that uses ASCIIMathML and works as expected using FireFox on Windows or Ubuntu 12.04.  When I display the same page on an Apple with Safari, the ASCIIMath displays correctly, but on two lines.  If I just drag the edge of the page to expand the window, the ASCIIMath displays as expected.  If I display another page, without changing the window with, I get two lines again.

Is there something I have to do special to use ASCIIMath with Apple Safari?
