Well, it is not the easiest thing to do, but I have asciimathml
working in Google Wave using the embed html gadget..... At present,
David's MathChat is quite a bit more useful, but it is a harbinger of
things to come ;=}

Can someone point me to the MathChat?

As David posted this here before.......  but note that this is in production on his site so I expect he doesn't anticipate production use by others

Oh wow... totally forgot about that link :)

The MathChat code is currently bundled in with my imathas code, but
can run independently. If you have an interest, let me know and I can
try to separate out the code for you.

Oh, and I haven't gotten to see Google Wave yet, but that's cool you
were able to get ASCIIMathML to run in it.

Hi,

I've done some work with asciimathml (firefox only):

http://msemac.redwoods.edu/~darnold/math50c/matlab/index.php

I am definitely interested in how we can use asciimathml and svg in a
chat session with students (office hours, etc.). However, our college
has made a committment to sakai, so no mathml in their tools.

So, whatever we can learn about how to implement math chat sessions
with asciimathml and svg would be helpful.

To one and all; if you have wave access or want same post and we can
try to do up a demo math wave

Marc: I'd be interested in seeing it, if you can set that up.

David Arnold: Give the link Marc posted a try (it'll be more fun if
you get someone else to log in at the same time). If you think it
would serve your need, I'll pull out the code for you. All it needs
is a web server running PHP and MySQL. Your Xserver should be able to
do it. Linking it in from Sakai would be very easy. If you need some
more heavy-duty, you might look at Elluminate (not free, but pretty
cool). BTW, I thought your name looked familiar.. I emailed with you
last year about your algebra book :)

David,

Will do.

Yep, and we wrote another, so we now have texts for intermediate
algebra and prealgebra:

http://msenux.redwoods.edu/IntAlgText/

http://msenux.redwoods.edu/PreAlgText/

We also have something similar to your online testing, though it
produces pdf output. It runs with perl, shell scripts, html, mysql,
and pdflatex:

I think the Intermediate Algebra one was the one I had looked at
before. Congrats on the Prealgebra one. I've been working on a "For
All Practical Purposes" style book... http://www.pierce.ctc.edu/dlippman/mathinsociety/

Have you considered talking with FlatWorldKnowledge about distributing
your books? They let you retain full copyright, and distribute all
their books with the CC-BY-SA-NC license. And pay royalties, so
someone else isn't profiting without getting a cut :)

Do you have a demo login I could look at your optimath site with
(perhaps via email)? I'm always interested in what others are
doing :)
