Racers & Friends:
The final race of PBYC's 2025 Island Series will be sailed on August 9th - that's a short 3 weeks from now. The race is the Tri-point Ocean Race which starts near Mandalay and passes Platform Gina and Anacapa to port, finishing in Ventura - 34 nmiles.
The Series is currently tied in 2 classes, Spinnaker and ORCA. See below. IRIS, a Melges 32 skippered by Jack LeMaire, and SLIVER, a Hobie 33 skippered by Mike Geer, both have 6 points going into the final race. Bill Gibbs' WAHOO and Hall Stratton's AKUA KAI have been trading firsts all season in the ORCA class.
The RC is hoping that since Hardway had almost too much wind and Milt's race too little, the Tri-point just might be just right. Trophies for the 3 individual races and the Series will be awarded Sunday morning August 10th at a breakfast feast. Yes, there will be raffles and silent auctions too. As a special treat, PBYC's house band, Sierra Highway, is playing Sunday afternoon at the clubhouse.
