Ahoy ASBCYC Racers!   If you're interested in the Vendee Globe Race - a solo, nonstop, unassisted Around the World Race (24,500nm), come to CIYC, Sunday, January 5, 2025, 3:00PM, to meet our special guest, Jerome Sammarcelli (Sailutions, Marina del Rey).  Jerome is a rigger, solo/short-handed ocean racer, and avid follower of the Vendee Globe.  He will talk about the skippers, the boats, the race, solo ocean racing, and more!   The 10th quadrennial Vendee Globe Race began off from the coast of France on November 10, 2024, with 40 skippers, including 6 women, sailing on 60' high-tech IMOCA boats (some with foils).  Currently, the leaders are within 5000nm of the finish while the last boat is still 12,000nm away.  Five boats have withdrawn.    Hope to see you there!   Jane Thomas CIYC Race Chair CIWSA Junior Staff Commodore
