Scripture:
Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Meditation:

With five 5 days to the election night, many of us are juggling the stress of the most contentious election cycle in our lifetime, along with the stress from the ongoing pandemic, job uncertainty and social injustices. I have seen webinars and articles with helpful tips to deal with election stress such as limiting TV and social media, practicing yoga, volunteering with a phone bank, setting boundaries with disrespectful co-workers, family members and friends and making a voting plan. But God and prayer was missing in all of the literature I've seen. In this time of deep uncertainty, we must remember the depth of God's love for us. We must remember the power of prayer. But above all, we must remember that even if the outcome is disfavorable, God's grace and mercy endures forever. This election does not determine whether Christ is with us; he is always with us and nothing today or on November 3 can separate us from God's love.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your everlasting and unconditional love. We ask for your favor and grace during this season of panic and uncertainty. We lean on your promise that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, so you will protect our voting plans and cast out voting suppression tactics. We ask that you give us the strength for the fight ahead. We ask that you strike down hate, bigotry and corruption. God, please turn it around in the midnight hour! Cover our anxious bodies and minds over the next week and remind us of your omnipresence and love. In Jesus' name we pay, Amen!
