A Courageous Life By Erika Haley 30 July 2020
Scriptures When we recognize God’s presence with us, courage starts to develop in us. It grows as we draw on His strength. Without God’s power, we’ll find that hardship and stress drain us emotionally and hurt us physically, leaving us vulnerable to Satan’s attacks. Ephesians 1:18-21
After 40 years of wandering, the nation of Israel was in such a state. They should have believed the two spies who trusted in the Lord’s presence and power. But instead, allowing their weakness to hold sway, the people sided with the remaining ten spies, who claimed the Canaanite obstacles were too great. Numbers 13:26-32
Being yielded to God’s purposes is essential for developing courage. Paul knew God had a plan for every event in his life—even the hardest ones. Instead of seeking a way out of trials, accept God’s way, and you’ll find courage welling up from within. Imagine yourself standing next to God, drawing on His strength. Philippians 4:13
Meditation:
Focus Your Thoughts on God When we spend time with God in Devotion or Prayer thinking about God’s goodness, we apply and invite His word into our lives. When we do this, God’s word nourishes and strengthens our soul and draw us even closer to Him. Focus on the Word on God and shut all the distractions of the world. Imagine His Spirit sitting next to you with His undivided attention to your prayers. Here are three things to remember:
1.God is faithful and sufficient 2. God grants his people fresh mercy and grace each morning 3. When you feel alone or distant from God, He will draw you back into His presence. Prayer: Father in heaven, I stand before you today in your omnipotent presence to ask that you grant me strength. I want you to give me the strength to power through all of the tasks today — whether little or big. It is by your will that I live oh Lord. And I know it is also by your will I will not go weak today. Amen
