Hi,
1/ the equation e=rSp is the short form of the matrix equation described some lines above. e is the observation vector, r is the dummy expression abundance, S is the splicing matrix, p is the proportion vector.
2/ Adding sigma to the splicing vector helps to shrink the proportion of the corresponding transcript. You can look at Figure 3 B, by adding sigma to the 1st and 3th column, we shrink the proportions of the 1st and 3rd transcripts.

please, can you explain me what means 1+sigma in the modified splicing matrix where the sigma is equal to r and sigma(k) = r(k).
Why did you add r to 1 if e(i)=0? Or r is 0 or -1?
