hello all. i've spent a few hours starting a port of AS3Delaunay into
Java (from some occasional googling, possibly the only person to ever
port from AS3 to Java instead of vice-versa). as i get deeper into
it, however, the coding style feels like it's written by an author who
is already familiar with Java. which leads me to the question:

is there a Java version of this library?

if not, i'll keep on with my port. i'm not exactly a Java whiz, more
of an AS3 coder, but my current project wants this in Java.

although...i could probably also use this:
http://www.cs.cornell.edu/Info/People/chew/Delaunay.html
or this:
http://leebyron.com/else/mesh/

Hi Eric,
I remember meeting you at gamelab! Also I interviewed with the folks who
took over Gamestar Mechanic after gamelab folded. I really liked that
project but they did not choose me...

Well I do have some familiarity with Java, but this version is a
direct port from
Fortune's original C code, which I have archived at the site along
with his paper,
and it did not go through a Java incarnation.

People have commented favorably about its speed, although I know that could
surely be improved by relaxing some of the clean-code aspects of it.

Anyway I'll have to leave it to your judgment whether to finish the port.
Do let us know what you decide and how it goes, eh?

hey alan -- i thought that might be you. i see you on the flashcodersNY list too from time to time, yeah?

yeah, AS3Delaunay has great performance. and is easy to use. thanks for throwing it together! i actually rolled my own Voronoi implementation for this exhibit, using java/processing, but i'm not happy with the performance, so wanted to use something that uses Fortune's algorithm. however, while posting this message here, i came across lee byron's Mesh library, and it's working for me very nicely.

i'll probably still end up using AS3Delaunay for a web version of the exhibit, however, and will let you know when it's live. thanks alan!
