search arxiv via RSS feeds - only few posts?

Hi, I would like to access arxiv lists via RSS feeds. E.g.

feed://export.arxiv.org/rss/cond-mat

for the "cond-mat" group. Unfortunately I see in browser only few
posts (68) whereas when I search via Google i get more results. For
instance I could not find this post

http://arxiv.org/abs/cond-mat/0510354

via the RSS feed. Do I have to use the API for beeing able to search
older posts? Or is there possiblity to download all posts of one group
as IMAP file? Or would you recommend me to crawl them all?

Hi Toby,

the RSS feeds at arXiv contain the daily updates, i.e. new and
replaced material for that particular day.
Their purpose is to allow subscribers to browse the latest updates via
RSS clients.

Consequently the cond-mat RSS feed is equivalent to
http://arxiv.org/list/cond-mat/new and similarly for particular
subject classes.

The arXiv API http://arxiv.org/help/api/index exposes a search
interface to the full corpus of arXiv papers.

The arXiv OAI http://arxiv.org/help/oa/index interface allows for
harvest of lists of all papers and their metadata in a particular set
and even all of arXiv.


So you have to pick the proper tool for your needs
