Number of papers re/ a given category

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to build an artistic project whose visuals would rely on the number of papers uploaded to arXiv under a given category : cs.LG.

I've been playing with the API a little to fetch data about those papers but can't figure out an easy way to just know how many papers are currently categorised under a given category.

I've tried to just run a generic search query without any maxResults parameters but it seems that the results are limited anyhow.

Is there any workaround on that ?

There are subject category totals in the TableByArchives tab, and a download button at the bottom right:

Thanks a lot. I did not know about that stat page.

But I was wondering, would you know of any programmatic way to access those data through some API calls - and not through a webpage ?

I would need to automate the fetching of this data so browsing a webpage is not ideal :-/

If you want a full snapshot, there's a JSON file download at Kaggle:

https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/Cornell-University/arxiv

Or here's an API example: 

https://export.arxiv.org/api/query?id_list=1706.03762

And the OAI API gives you updates from the date you specify and forward.
