I just rebuilt my web application for reading the arXiv using AngularJS and other javascript magic. It is still annoying that the API does not return JSON and I have to set up a PHP script to route requests because of browser security constraints, but the outcome seems nicer now and also more responsive.

I expect to pack this up as a phone/tablet application because this way queries will be directed towards arxiv.org instead of my proxy script. I suppose this is not a problem, right?

Should be fine to have queries come from the user's app instead of a proxy, in general we prefer that.
