API does not return the latest entries today?

Hi there, I am trying to get all the astro-ph entries submitted during 3/29-4/1 (i.e., published today on 4/2). I use the follow query but got zero entry:

http://export.arxiv.org/api/query?search_query=cat:astro-ph*+AND+submittedDate:[201903291800+TO+201904011800]

However, if I changed the submittedDate range to 3/28 to 3/29 the API indeed returns valid entries:

http://export.arxiv.org/api/query?search_query=cat:astro-ph*+AND+submittedDate:[201903281800+TO+201903291800]

Is it the case that the API database has not been updated with the latest entries today, or if there is something that I missed?

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

I have also noticed recently that api answers are lagging one day behind last submissions to arxiv in several math categories.

And I would also like to have any pointer where this is documented and since when this happens.

This happens because both the published date and the updated date do not correspond with the date of appearance in arxiv. The published date is the date when the authors submitted the paper to arxiv. The updated date is when the authors updated the paper. So, you may not get all the daily results of arxiv.org at the top of your sorted feed, since you cannot sort it by the date of appearance.

Hello again,

I found the way to solve it. I asked arxiv.org and they explained me that at the moment they do not offer date of appearance, but you can use the arxiv id for sorting. That solves the problem :D
