The following example creates a PowerPoint Application object in another application, starts PowerPoint (if it is not already running), and opens an existing presentation named "Ex_a2a.ppt".
Hoping someone can help me with some VBA code. I use a VBA loop to paste Excel charts, text boxes, and tables into a Powerpoint template. However, because I cannot be sure that the user will have the Powerpoint Object Library installed, I cannot use the Dim PPTApp as Powerpoint.Application type syntax.
The active presentation will close, but Powerpoint itself stays open (with no file window open). Then, because it is open, when the next one runs (I have a loop that will loop through and do many of these builds back-to-back), it opens up the template as well as the latest built Powerpoint file, creating system locking issues.
Sean is correct in terms of removing object from memory, but you need to make sure to release any and all direct references to your powerpoint object as well, in case you store the pointer to your powerpoint in other variables. Notably, however, this will not kill the application and stop the thread - it will simply deallocate your application variables.
Whenever I copy paste special in excel, my excel file freezes and after a waiting for a few seconds to few minutes, depending on the amount of data being copy pasted, I get this error 'Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action'
IF the Azure Information Protection plug-In is there, it will be listed under Active Application Add-Ins at the top of the box. look down to the bottom of the open window where it says "Manage", and change that to "Comm Add-Ins", and press "Go". In the window that pops up, uncheck the Azure Information Protection plug in, and press "okay".
Occasionally, the message "The server application, source file or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application" will be shown when double-clicking on a Prism object embedded in a Microsoft PowerPoint or Word document. Note that the ability to embed Prism objects in this way using OLE is a Windows-only feature (OLE is unavailable on Mac). The message that is displayed when this happens comes from Windows, not from Prism. When you double-click on a Prism object in PowerPoint (or Word), Windows tries to open it within Prism. If it can't, Windows displays this message.
Prism 10.1.2 has been released for Windows with a fix for the WebView2 issue that was causing this message to be displayed. Please update to 10.1.2 before trying any other workarounds!
Microsoft recently released a new version of WebView2 which has resulted in this alert being displayed for many embedded Prism objects from Prism versions 9.3.0-10.1.1. WebView2 is a component developed and maintained by Microsoft, and allows desktop applications to incorporate different types of code and related functionalities. This component is installed on all modern Windows devices, and is used by all Prism versions starting with 9.3.0.
After the Windows update on December 7, 2023 (WebView2 Build 120.0.2210.61), attempting to access embedded Prism files in Microsoft Office documents resulted in an error being displayed when trying to access these embedded files. Prism 10.1.2 was released on December 14, 2023 with a fix for this issue. Please download and install this or a newer version of Prism either by checking for updates from within the application (open the Help menu and select "Check for Updates") or by downloading the latest installer on our updates page.
If for some reason, you are unable to update to the latest version of Prism, you may still try to use the workarounds below to continue working with embedded (OLE) Prism objects in Microsoft Office Applications.
Right-click on the object in PowerPoint (or Word), choose GraphPad Prism Object, and then choose Convert. Finally, choose the version of Prism you have installed. If the object was embedded with an older version of Prism, this will allow you to open it with a more recent version.
This utility provides methods for interacting with the PowerPoint application and PowerPoint presentations. These methods use the MATLAB interface to the Microsoft .NET framework to interact with the PowerPoint editor.
Start the PowerPoint application if it has not already been started and return a pptApp object. A pptApp object is a MATLAB object that wraps the .NET object that wraps the PowerPoint editor. The PowerPoint application is hidden.
Open a PowerPoint presentation file specified in filename, make it visible, and return a pptPres object. A pptPres object is a MATLAB object that wraps the .NET object that wraps the PowerPoint presentation.
I am a new user to Panopto. I am a university faculty member and am trying to record my lectures with my powerpoint slides. When I share the screen as per the instructions, the powerpoint slides do not work. I get a single screen that will not move to the next slide. I am trying to go through the powerpoint slides with my picture in the corner or, better yet, side by side the powerpoints. But the program does not seem to work as the instructions indicate it should.
I have tried the application window and chrome tab options. When I select the application window, Panopto goes to the application, but I am not in the window. It is just the powerpoint slides. When I go back to the browser with the camera, I see the powerpoint slide in but the powerpoint slides will not work.
If you have access to Panopto through your university, I would recommend recording with the Panopto desktop recorder instead of the new Panopto Capture web app. Here is the guide for that: -recording-1
This is how you would record when recording the whole screen. If you would like to record just the powerpoint application (not the whole screen), follow step 5.2 of this article: -to-Create-a-Video-Using-Panopto-Capture#hTargetInstance4
Kathryn, Thanks for your help. I thought that I had figured it out. In fact, I was able to record several videos exactly like I wanted. However, now I have run into a different problem. I cannot get Panopto to record the camera. I have been trying to record a side-by-side lecture using Google Slides using the free recorder available at panopto.com (I have used the pro recorder as well and the same thing happens). I select the microphone, then the camera, then a select the google tab with the particular google slide show that I want to use. I have it set by side-by-by side presentation. I hit record and then go to the Chrome tab with the slide show. I record the lecture going through the slides. At the end, then I switch back to panopto and stop the recording. I upload it to my Pro folder and find that only the sound recorded. The camera is not recording my face. I have recorded the lecture at least 8 times trying to get the side-by-side presentation. I have switched computers, I have tried using picture in a picture. I have tried recording with just the slide show appearing. Nothing has worked. I cannot get panopto to record my face and the slides in the same presentation. Have you any advice on what I need to do to get this to work? I am at my wits end. I am using Panopto because it is the only software that I could find that would do side-by-side presentations. I was able to make several that worked just fine. Now I cannot get it to record using the camera. It seems that whenever I start recording, the camera is turned off. Help!
Also, it is possible that another application is trying to access your camera at the same time as Panopto which could cause a conflict - if you have any other camera-using applications open, please make sure to close them.
Log out of your Microsoft account in the PowerPoint application and then log in again. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in this article. If this does not resolve your issue, please check what version of PowerPoint you are using, as it possibly does not meet the requirements of our add-in.
The add-in does not read or store any of the content from your presentation. The add-in does require read and write access but this is only used to store an ID of the Mentimeter question added to the PowerPoint presentation.
NOTE: since our old add-in is no longer supported, you might experience technical issues when using it, like your audience not being directed to the correct slide, or results not coming in in real time. Unfortunately, we will not be able to help if you encounter these issues.
