The Bank of Tanzania, an equal opportunity employer and Tanzania’s central bank, is looking for suitably qualified young Tanzanian citizens of high personal integrity to fill the following vacant positions at the Head Office and at its Branches in Mwanza, Mbeya, Arusha, Zanzibar and Training Institute, Mwanza.

Position: Accountant III (Domestic Payments and Settlement) - 2 Posts
Reports to: Head of Division
Contract type: Contract for unspecified period of time
Location: Head Office, Dar es Salaam

Job Purpose:
To execute accounting duties relating to domestic payments and settlement, reconciliation, accounting entries and examination of payments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Preparing, examining and analyzing periodic statements of financial position and statement of comprehensive income to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting standards;
b) Monitoring and reviewing accounting entries and related system reports for accuracy and completeness;
c) Resolving accounting entries discrepancies;
d) Reviewing and recommending International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) which are relevant to the Bank;
e) Reconciling internal and intermediary accounts;
f) Maintaining accounting records and preparing accounts and management information;
g) Providing advice and support to internal and external auditors in completing audits;
h) Examining and verifying payments;
i) Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the Head of Division.

Education/Professional Qualifications Required:
a) Bachelor‘s Degree in Accounting or its equivalent from an accredited institution;
b) Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.

Position: Database Administrator II (Networks and Office Automation) - 1 Post
Reports to: Head of Division
Contract Type: Contract for unspecified period of time
Location: Head Office, Dar es Salaam

Job Purpose:
To support the Oracle databases and ensure their performance, availability and security.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Installing, testing new versions of Oracle Database Management Systems (DBMS) and upgrading Oracle Servers and application tools;
b) Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for database system;
c) Working with Systems Engineers to ensure that the appropriate hardware resources are allocated to the databases for availability and optimum performance;
d) Monitoring database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime;
e) Monitoring and optimizing performance of databases to provide fast query responses to front end users;
f) Developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans of database information;
g) Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly;
h) Controlling and monitoring user access to the database;
i) Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata');
j) Performing other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

Education/Professional Qualifications and Experience Required:
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent from an accredited institution;
b) A minimum of three (3) years of working experience in Oracle Database Administration in a reputable organization;
c) Experience in managing Oracle RDBMS in large systems;
d) Experience with other database systems, preferably SQL Server;
e) Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service;
f) Practical experience in managing the internal and external Oracle database security;
g) Certification in Database Administration will be an added advantage;
h) Ability to work independently;
i) Experience in Oracle Database Administration tools, PL/SQL Programming, UNIX shell scripting, Oracle Certification preferably OCP will be an added advantage;
j) Masters Degree will be an added advantage.


Position: Business Analyst II (Information Systems Services) -1 Post
Reports to: Head of Division
Contract type: Contract for unspecified period of time
Location: Head Office, Dar es Salaam

Job Purpose:
To investigate and analyse business activities and recommend actions to make them more efficient by using IT services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Conducting feasibility studies to identify ICT standards and map them with the Bank’s business processes;
b) Assisting users to prepare functional requirements and liaising with IT developers with a view to preparing appropriate technical specifications;
c) Managing and coordinating systems user acceptance tests and system quality assurance for newly developed or customized software;
d) Reviewing IT system documentations including user guides and technical manuals provided by system developers;
e) Analysing and managing IT system change requests ;
f) Preparing, reviewing and maintaining a repository of specifications, standards and procedures for business systems;
g) Ensuring that IT system requirements are well documented, fully understood by all stakeholders and signed off by business users;
h) Assisting in documenting “As-Is” process definitions and designing of “To-Be” process definitions;
i) Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the Head of Division.
