Any thoughts on tabling at Wakarusa? Thousands upon thousands of
Ozark hippies and general festival goers might be able to move an
impressive number of authentically handcrafted Ugandan crafts.
Especially since it goes to such a great cause.
Prices at Bonaroo (a similar festival) from such tabling at times
pushed on price gouging from my experience, but even while refraining
from that one could no doubt be fairly profitable for the people back
in Uganda for whom you're marketing. Not to mention, when aren't
massive music festivals well worth your time? ;-]
I'm also curious as to what percentage of the beads you receive are
what you'd consider representative of skilled craftsmanship and do you
receive here stateside those which might instead not pass a "normal"
jewelry buyer's discretion? Bearing in mind you'd be selling to kids
hoping to make more of a political statement through their purchase
than a fashion one, objects worn as oddities to inspire questions such
as rudimentary hand crafted trinkets certainly could fit the political
statement tact better than refined goods might. If you've got such
inventory then thats just my thought on how you might liquidate some
extra goods and bring in a good number of dollars for your charity
recipients at the same time.
Best,
Kenneth
