This is purely a theoretical question, but let's assume a few things first.

Two or more DJs are within optimum distance of each other and have <30ms latency (as defined as being 'optimum' for JackTrip)
All connections are clear with a minimum of 10mbps upload.

Would it be possible to then have a back-2-back DJ set with one DJ mixing into the previous DJs record?

I know this is an extreme imagining of the system capability, but would it be possible? And, what would be the obstacles that would need to be overcome to do such a performance?

We are in extreme times, and I have an eclectic music circle. We're exploring everything :)

All the best
Jay

not theoretical at all, it’s one of our main design scenarios.

The sync doesn’t work automatically like Ableton Link quite yet, but that’s the fun of it!
it’s like the old days when you sync’d with ear and art.

The grey area is between 30 and 50ms.
under 30ms is basically local and mundane.

Over 50 is where it gets networky and fun, because you’re syncing
with latency (60000ms/pingTime) = bpm - then subdivide.

Between that you get a slap back effect, which can be used with art.

I have Traktor mixer where live feeds come in decks C and/or D for example,
then I sync externals with local transport. Don’t turn of transport and master sync once you have things going.

Launch away.

Let’s try it soon jay,
Ken
