SITE Fest 2010: Planning Begins

Hey Arts in Bushwick!

Congrats to everyone who participated in BETA Spaces. Special thanks to Steve and the troop of volunteers who pulled all of this together. It was an amazing day, and not only because of the beautiful weather.

I am starting to think about SITE Fest 2010. The dates are not yet set, but I want to do that as soon as possible and get the ball rolling on hub spaces, setting space and tech managers for each hub, and figuring out the basic organizational backbone of the festival.

Armory Arts Week contacted us once again (yay!) to let us know that they'd love to make us a featured Brooklyn event . . . if we do SITE on March 6 and 7. As of now, that is my proposed date. We can, of course, vote on that at our next meeting. Because this week is Thanksgiving, I want to hold a meeting the following week. Date, time, and location information to follow.

Please let me know your thoughts on the proposed date, and of course know that SITE seeks absolutely everyone who can participate at any level.

I'd like to be involved in some capacity although I will be in South
Africa for the first 3 weeks of January, so would only be able to
start after that. Not sure if that rules me out for press or not.

By the way, Jeremy from BushwickBK has offered to help with fixing the
website. Who should he get in touch with about that?

Hi guys,

Fantastic! Ali, that does not disqualify you from press at all -- as long as you're able to start right when you get back from South Africa, I really think everything should be fine. This also gives me a good timeline to make sure the press release etc. is ready to go. We will need to start sending things out probably in the first or second week of February.

Jeremy should contact Lee Mandell about the website: l...@boswyckfarms.org. I would prefer not to be the point person on web stuff a) because I have no expertise and b) this way I can focus on SITE better.

Todd, so glad you want to do a music portion again! I was really hoping that you would. Do you want to do it at Goodbye Blue Monday, or elsewhere? I thought the set-up at GBBM was great, but of course you know far more about it than I do. Are you going to call it ionSound again?

I want to have the first SITE meeting either next Wednesday 12/2 any time between 7 PM and 10 PM, or next Thursday night at 9 PM. I strongly prefer Wednesday, but if anyone has anything really important to say, please weigh in. I volunteer my house as the location.

I wish I was able to see more of the other exhibits for BETA Spaces,
but I received a ton of great compliments for the after party and
wanted to pass them along to all the wonderful people here who made
that happen. It was a pleasure.
Let me know what you guys need help with for SITE Fest.
