I'm so sorry I missed the gathering earlier this evening! This month is a bit of whirlwind with fundraising house party and board retreat right around the corner.

And I'm reaching out to you for a bit of advice, please. The Laundromat Project is looking for someone to train our board around individual fundraising during an upcoming retreat on Saturday, June 22nd. This would be for about 2hrs or so that afternoon.

This is a fairly new muscle for our board--individual cultivation--but they are up for the challenge. This is probably going to be the first of series of trainings over the next year or so.

Do you know anyone who might be helpful in this arena, please? And on short notice. I've been asking around for a while but no luck yet.

As a reminder, The Laundromat Project amplifies the creativity that already exists within communities by using arts and culture to build community networks, solve problems, and enhance our sense of ownership in the places where we live, work, and grow. We do this by bringing socially relevant and socially engaged arts programming to laundromats and other everyday community spaces in order to reach as many of our neighbors as possible. We are particularly committed to long-term and sustained investment in communities of color as well as those living on modest incomes. We envision a world in which artists are understood as valuable assets in every community and everyday people know the power of their own creative capacity to transform their lives, their relationships, and their surroundings.

Thanks a million,
Kemi

I’d recommend you talk to Marti Fischer, mfgr...@optonline.net, www.mfgrants.com. She did a workshop for us in April on fundraising, and she’s doing another one, on “Making the Ask,” on June 26. You can see details on that at www.bit.ly/ABCNY_events.

“Asking for money doesn't have to be scary. Learn how to navigate the cultivation process, how to choose the right time to request a donation, and how to maximize the odds of a successful ask. Join us for this free professional development workshop at the Foundation Center.”

There’s also a company called Cause Effective, http://www.causeeffective.org/index.php, that does similar work. The contact there is Judy Levine, ju...@causeeffective.org.

Good luck!
