First
launched in 1982, the Downtown Dance Festival kicks off with its first performance at Battery Park on Sunday, August 11th at 1pm. Weekday afternoon performances will follow at several locations downtown. The festival will conclude with a special
indoor performance for our invited guests.

Tim Casson, The Dance WE Made |
Tim Casson is a London-based dancer best known for performing internationally with critically acclaimed Sadler's Wells Associate Jasmin Vardimon Company. The Dance WE Made is a record breaking interactive dance project. It will roam the public spaces of New York City, inviting members of the public to devise original choreography. The unique, final dance and video footage of the newly created work will be presented at DNA as The Dance NYC Made! |
Originally from Detroit, Vendetta Mathea has lived in France for the last 30 years. She has studied at Juilliard School, Alvin Ailey and the Dance Theater of Harlem. She has worked with such choreographers as Katherine Dunham, Louis Falco, Jennifer Muller and Paul Taylor. The company will perform Mathea's highly charged, visceral Homme Animal, a work for four dancers examining the foundations of human nature. |
