Hello,
Thanks to all who were able to make this week’s ALI Roundtable on Effective Delegation and Meeting Management with Elizabeth Moran. Please see below for a note from Elizabeth plus attachments from the meeting.
Have a great weekend,
Stephanie
Hi all,
Great to see those who could make it!
For all, attached are some best practices we discussed around delegation.
One one side, we have a Skill/Will matrix. When deciding to delegate, first consider SKILL (technical ability) level:
» Current skill levels - do they have the actual skills needed to do the job
» Past experience and performance
» Development goals
» Time, urgency demands
Second, consider WILL (confidence, motivation) level:
»Current motivation levels
»Workloads
»Confidence levels
»Reliability
»Personal goals and aspirations
»Interests
The second side goes through some specific steps and communication to have with those to whom you are delegating. This is a great tool to share with your team to help them remind you and each other about following these steps. You can also use with your manager.
Hope to see you all more and please let us know if conference calls could work...we love in-person, but maybe a call once in a while?
Bon weekend,
Elizabeth
