This is the story of Khatewadi village, Nanded district, Maharashtra. Khatewadi used to be a yet-another village till recent past – riddled with poverty, debt, alcoholism, religious differences, illiteracy. However, over the last 3 years, the work done by Yuvacharyas and teachers from the Art of Living has transformed this village. It is a unique testimony of how selfless service and commitment can bring the community together. Today, tobacco & alcohol & other intoxicants are taboo here – voluntarily. Villagers gather together every evening for Satsang and discuss the development of the village. Entire population of the village is self-empowered. They got together to build roads, proper drainage system, bathrooms. There is so much trust and confidence among themselves that they were able to setup shops which do not host a shopkeeper – villagers take what they need and deposit the appropriate amount.

It is said true India is in its villages. And Kathewadi is just one such village – now transformed. We want to replicate this all over India – build that trust, confidence and self-reliance. To begin with, in Andhra Pradesh we identified two villages – Koyyalagudam, Dandumalkapur, about 30Kms from Hyderabad – where we want to work closely with the villagers to bring about this change.
All of us must take part in this unique opportunity to reshape our country. Apart from man-power, a project of this kind requires financial support. You are encouraged to donate generously towards this cause. Also, request you to share this information with your friends, family and encourage them to take part in this initiative. We are also looking for contributions from corporates. All the donations above Rs.5000/- are eligible for tax exemptions.
Over the next few months, you can see how your contribution is helping in building these two villages.

As a formal begining to this project, you and your family are invited to attend the performance by Smt. Gayatri Asokan at Ravindra Bharti, Hyderabad on 12th Sept. 630-9pm.
