After being a bit slack on making porcelain items on Friday I
continued doing the same on Saturday. The pace was slow but after all
it was weekend.
I did manage to put on the kiln on Saturday night and decided to have
a lazy Sunday which involved watching the Australian Open, crocheting
and going for a walk. It had been snowing again & I’m really starting
to dislike the snow and the cold now. I’m ready for spring.
Luckily the tulips and hyacinth in my studio scream spring…
I really should learn how to file my pictures better. Usually, I take
‘em, edit ‘em & then throw ‘em away. A while back I learned I should
never throw away my raw files. I publish a lot of my pictures of work
in progress on Flickr and somehow people love it. Janine from
Uppercase, a Canadian based magazine for the curious and creative,
asked me if I wanted to take part in a feature about work in progress.
Of course she needs high resolution images and that made me dig in my
trash bin on my computer. Thank goodness I could retrieve all the
pictures that she asked for. Unedited, with the occasional mug and
foot on them, but they have graphic designers to deal with that. I’m
not worried. So, this is going to be published in April. Yay!
I put on my to-do-list to find a better way to deal with my original
pictures ‘cause going through your trash bin is such a waste of time.
I certainly spend lots of hours sanding porcelain pieces. I don’t like
to sand inside ‘cause it gives a lot of dust but I don’t feel like
going to shiver & sand in the cold now. And I have more sanding
waiting for me when the first sunrays are out as all of the feelings I
made in the winter are still waiting to be sanded.
I’m not looking forward to this as you can imagine.
Krystal from RikRak send me the nominees for the Handmade Olympics
Awards and I loved looking at those who got nominated. Hard job making
a short-list of 10 though. Will blog about them next week.
I planned another sanding day on Wednesday but I was feeling pretty
restless so I went shopping instead. Nothing beats spoiling yourself.
So all in all I have been pretty slack this week but I needed a little
rest and take it easy for a while. I think I want to continue this
pace a bit as it feels right.
I just have to tell myself that it’s OK not to do 200% all the time…
And I had a fun change in my creative space as I am preparing for an
upcoming fair. You can read about it here:

With a bit of struggling, I also started my ripple blanket. You can
read all about that in my saturday crochet blogpost.
Happy weekend to you all!
Love,
Mitsy
