August 21st: Call for Designs: Midtown Sign to Honor Hispanic Heritage Month
Midtown Houston Cultural Arts and Entertainment District is seeking original and uniquely inspired
designs in honor of 2025 Hispanic Heritage Month.The selected design will be used to create a large
scale temporary public art display using 3M vinyl face wrap on the iconic Midtown sign in Bagby Park. One artist will be selected to receive a $1,500 honorarium for their winning design and for participating in a professionally recorded interview about their work and inspiration. The interview, tentatively scheduled in August (exact date TBD), will be shared across Midtown Houston’s social media platforms.

August 8th: Investing in Artists: Tools & Equipment Grant
The Investing in Artists: Tools & Equipment program will award grants of $1,000–$5,000 to individual craft artists to purchase artistic tools and equipment that support their ability to make object-based work. This program is open to individual craft artists, folk and traditional artists, and craftspeople in the United States and its Territories, with geographic eligibility rotating over the 2024–2026 funding cycle.

August 22nd: Houston Media Conference 2025: Vendor Opportunity & Conference Attendance
Houston Cinema Arts Society (HCAS) and the Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) present the Houston Media Conference. Exhibiting local and national production companies, equipment rental houses and featuring speakers from film, television, digital media, legal, and financial professions to discuss and provide information about the business side of filmmaking. The Houston Media Conference intends to provide an open forum where professionals involved in all aspects of production can meet, greet and engage with representatives from Houston's film industry. Stages is seeking an Associate Artistic Director for the Artistic Department. The Associate Artistic Director provides support to Stages’ artistic endeavors.
