We need to make an amendment to the Constitution which provides a process for national referendums. Unity is a virtue. We must unite behinds specific proposals.
For example, do you want to end nuclear power and develop renewable energy for America?
Do you want Medicare for all?
Do you want national polling of the people on every political question all the time?
Do you want to end the American empire?
Do you want to DE-CHARTER Goldman Sachs?
We need these questions to be put to the people, if for no other reason that to track the movement of public opinion. Congress must know the will of the people.
It should be a system which allows States to put forward questions, perhaps if as few as three states approve a question.
The method for putting forth questions should be similar to the method employed by those states which currently have State initiative processes.
