Statement against arbitrary crackdown and push back Bangladeshis
We, Banglar Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM), a human rights organization working for decades to monitor the India–Bangladesh border, are deeply disturbed and outraged by a series of verified reports in both national and international media. These reports reveal a grave pattern: residents of our border regions are being arbitrarily picked up by local police, detained without due process, and then illegally handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF). The BSF, in turn, has reportedly blindfolded these individuals and forcibly pushed them across the border into Bangladesh.
These acts are not only unlawful but also constitute a blatant violation of the Indian Constitution, the country’s criminal justice system, and international human rights treaties to which India is a signatory. The victims are never produced before a court, thereby denying them their fundamental right to legal redress and protection.
Disturbingly, these operations appear to disproportionately target Muslim communities and are being conducted under the joint command of senior police and BSF officials. The timing of these actions—coinciding with the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pahegam, Kashmir, and the Indian government’s declaration of a "war" against Pakistan—raises serious concerns about collective punishment and communal profiling under the guise of national security. Such barbaric operations are mainly occurring in the states ruled by BJP, like Gujarat, Assam, Orissa, Rajasthan, etc.
We categorically condemn these actions. Arbitrary detention, forced expulsion, and targeted communal repression have no place in a democratic society. These are not just human rights violations—they are crimes against humanity.
We demand an immediate halt to these illegal operations, an independent judicial inquiry into these grave violations, and the prosecution of all responsible officials, regardless of rank. We urge the National Human Rights Commission, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the judiciary, and the media to take immediate cognizance and act decisively.
Justice must not be a selective privilege—it must be a guaranteed right.

আমরা, বাঙলার মানবাধিকার সুরক্ষা মঞ্চ (MASUM), ভারত–বাংলাদেশ সীমান্ত অঞ্চলে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে মানবাধিকার পর্যবেক্ষণে নিযুক্ত একটি সংগঠন, সাম্প্রতিক কালে জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত একাধিক নিশ্চিত খবরে অত্যন্ত উদ্বিগ্ন ও ক্ষুব্ধ। এই প্রতিবেদনগুলি থেকে একটি ভয়ঙ্কর চিত্র স্পষ্ট হয়েছে—সীমান্তবর্তী অঞ্চলের সাধারণ মানুষকে স্থানীয় পুলিশ যথেচ্ছভাবে গ্রেফতার করছে, কোনো আইনানুগ প্রক্রিয়া ছাড়াই দিনের পর দিন আটক রেখে তাদের সীমান্ত সুরক্ষা বাহিনীর (BSF) হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হচ্ছে। এরপর, BSF ঐ ব্যক্তিদের চোখ বেঁধে জোরপূর্বক বাংলাদেশ সীমান্তে ফেলে দিচ্ছে।
এই কার্যকলাপ শুধু বেআইনি নয়, বরং এটি ভারতের সংবিধান, দেশের ফৌজদারি বিচার ব্যবস্থা এবং আন্তর্জাতিক মানবাধিকার চুক্তির নির্লজ্জ লঙ্ঘন, যেগুলির প্রতি ভারত অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ। ধৃত ব্যক্তিদের কখনোই আদালতে পেশ করা হচ্ছে না, ফলে তাদের আইনগত সহায়তা ও নিরাপত্তার মৌলিক অধিকার হরণ করা হচ্ছে।
অত্যন্ত উদ্বেগজনকভাবে, এই অভিযানের লক্ষ্যবস্তু হচ্ছে মুসলিম সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষ এবং এসব অভিযান চালানো হচ্ছে পুলিশের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্তা ও BSF-এর যৌথ নির্দেশনায়। এই কর্মকাণ্ডগুলির সময়কাল—কাশ্মীরের পহেলগাম-এ জঙ্গি হামলার পর এবং সরকারের পাকিস্তান-বিরোধী যুদ্ধঘোষণার পটভূমিতে—প্রমাণ করে যে এটি একটি গোষ্ঠীভিত্তিক প্রতিহিংসামূলক দমননীতি, যা জাতীয় নিরাপত্তার নামে বৈষম্যমূলক রূপ নিচ্ছে। এই জঘন্যতম ঘটনাবলী কেবলমাত্র বিজেপি-শাসিত রাজ্যগুলিতেই সংঘটিত হচ্ছে, যেমন, গুজরাত, রাজস্থান, উড়িষ্যা, আসাম, ইত্যাদি।
আমরা এই ধরনের দমনমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডের তীব্র নিন্দা জানাই। ইচ্ছামতো গ্রেফতার, জোরপূর্বক বহিষ্কার এবং ধর্মীয় গোষ্ঠীভিত্তিক নিপীড়নের কোনো স্থান একটি গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে নেই। এগুলো কেবল মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘন নয়—এগুলো মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে অপরাধ।
আমরা অবিলম্বে এই বেআইনি কার্যকলাপ বন্ধের দাবি জানাই। আমরা স্বাধীন বিচারবিভাগীয় তদন্ত এবং দায়ী সকল কর্মকর্তা—তাদের পদমর্যাদা নির্বিশেষে—বিচারের আওতায় আনার দাবি জানাই। আমরা জাতীয় মানবাধিকার কমিশন, বিচারব্যবস্থা এবং গণমাধ্যমকে অনুরোধ করছি অবিলম্বে এই বিষয়ে পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করতে।
ন্যায়বিচার কখনোই নির্বাচনী সুবিধা হতে পারে না—এটি প্রত্যেকের নিশ্চিত অধিকার হওয়া উচিত।
