hey all-
my friends are throwing a benefit concert for their cousin who has
leukemia. if you have time this saturday, please check it out. or if
you'd like to make a donation to the cause, please contact the woman
who wrote the following:
Dear Friends,
I hope you'll consider coming to to a benefit concert on October 18 in
Frick Fine Arts Auditorium on the University of Pittsburgh campus
(8:00 pm) featuring Ishtar, Patricia Wake, Devilish Merry, Molly in
the Crowd, and Sadiqa Bellydance.
The benefit is for Terry L. Snyder and the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society. Terry was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML) in March. She has not
worked since her diagnosis, and has had several (failed) rounds of
chemotherapy, and a stem cell transplant, which gives us hope for her
survival. However, her insurance is running out and she is at the
brink of financial ruin, including the threat of losing her home.
Terry needs help, and so do medical research teams working on better
treatments. Please come to the concert and bring some friends, and if
you can’t, please send a check (payable to Terry L. Snyder Leukemia
Trust) ? to Chris Metil at the address below, or to Box 513, Lyndora,
PA 16045.
About the concert: Ishtar is famous in Pittsburgh for classic belly
dance music with contemporary instrumentation, Molly in the Crowd is a
Scottish folk band with vocalist John Meikle). Patricia Wake’s music
is acoustic alternative with a gothic flavor, and the well-known
Devilish Merry is an American folk band. And, there will be
bellydancing.....
You may get tickets in advance or at the door. $10 donation is
suggested; $5 for students. This event is sponsored by the Pitt
Student Slovak Club.
