Shouldn't we be helping art out by NOT pirating his stuff and getting a Time Travers subscription? It's only $5/mo. Help the guy stay on air (for a little while at least)

I'm all for getting the shows for free, but just remember how much Art complained at pirating when he was doing Dark Matter. Sure, he doesn't understand that's it's something that unfortunately happens, but I'm just saying we would all want Art to not find some easy way to back out. Especially for his shows getting pirated.

I have everything set up to record the show.

I'm doing this strictly for archival purposes, I'm also subscribing to the podcast. The podcasts will not feature any bumper music, and will of course be somwhat edited. I'd like to have the 'originals'.

Will, is there somewhere you're going to post these? In subscribing but not sure I care for this hourly breakdown business that they're doing

I agree about the hourly breakdown. It's annoying, similar to how "that other show" provides audio for their show. I wonder if Keith is doing is for easier editing on his end? I don't think Will is sharing his archive just yet.

I may post them eventually, depends on how long the show goes. If you really need them send me an email.

I figured they would be up on the torrent site. I listened to the second hour of the show it was good. I don't know what everyone else thought? I noticed the audio dropping a few times. Also thr stream sounded well very crappy. But was very good from what I heard.

Will, is there a way to automate recording the stream? I'm a Time Traveler, but the show just isn't the same without the music, especially the opening theme. Do you know of a program that can automatically grab the stream at the right time and record for the three hours, then stop the recording?

I was bummed out i forgot my card was declined. But got to catch the second hour of the show was good. But the stream quality was not so good. I am gonna see if i can find someone on the torrent sites hosting the files.

There is an automated way, but to use it you would have to know how to set it up. How about a playing with the missing songs added between the show segments?

Editing them in myself? Don't really want to dedicate time everyday for that. There's got to be a program, preferably on osx that I can set to grab the stream at a certain time and record for three hours, then stop.

Hey i have a question for you Wil i download the big 60 gig file a couple of months ago. You also have a 20 gig file on the pirate bay. Are any of the shows in the 20 gig file. Are any of the 20 gig files the same ones that are in the 60 gig torrent?

I currently have a shell script running via a cronjob on a linux server that automatically starts at 10:55pm and records for 3 hours and 45 minutes. Here's the gist of the script: You'll have to make modifications to match your system.

#!/bin/bash

FILENAME="$(date +%Y-%m-%d) Midnight in the Desert with Art Bell - Z.aac"

/usr/bin/avconv -i http://live.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/darkmatter.aac -acodec copy -t 13500 /home/will/"$FILENAME" #this is the output file

This script will give you somewhere around 3.5 hours of recording. When it hits 13,500 seconds it stops. Run it every night via cron and you're good to go. I'm still in the testing phase, but I think it's going to be a solid solution. Its great for archival. no quality loss because its not reencoding the audio codec. Save it as an AAC if you'd like to edit the file, or just use m4a if you don't care about editing it after.

There's nothing in the 20gb file that isn't in the 60.
