Idont have hard core facts, but I have used B12 Chemtool for many years with good results. Seafoam works good, but when they tripled the price of it, I decided that I would go back to B12. It's not like you are using either of them every fill up, once every couple of months for good measure and if your having issues....
+1 on the price hike. I discovered the B-12 at wally world was something like $3 a can vs almost $10. So I have been using the B-12. Reading the directions (yea I know perrish the thought) the only big difference I can see is Sea Foam is OK for diesel and the B-12 says specificly dont use on deisel. 6oz of either per tank every 4-5 weeks I think is OK. Anybody ever put a shot of marvel mystery oil in? Other than over winter storage?
I use the Marvel Mystery Oil and Berryman's. Sea-Foam is great but overpriced anymore to just use it. I mix several and use them togather. Not telling what or how much and you better not ask goose.....
IMHO, Berryman's B-12 is a stronger solvent than Sea-Foam. Do I know this for a fact? Nope, but in my highly unscientific uses, B-12 has achieved the same results as Sea-Foam with less B-12 used. Plus, B-12 is about 1/3 the price of Sea-Foam. Just my opinion, YMMV.
I too stopped buying seafoam unless i run into an issue I may pick up a can. I may also try Berrymans but only if I was going to burn the tank and fill it back up, as I do not think I would like to have the fuel sit in the carbs.
Berryman's B12 is safe for your carbs and has been a recommended carb cleaner for Venture carbs since the 80's.There was a write up on how to use the aerosol version along with some in the tank to clean gunked up carbs without removing them. It was in the Bench Wrench section of the old Venture Roads the house magazine of the Venture Touring Society which was semi sponsored by Yamaha at the time. The Motorcycle Touring Society I think still has these in their archives.I use the liquid and the aerosol both when I have a hard cleanup job to do.I have run the liquid thru the carbs on several occasions on both 1st and 2nd gen bikes with great success. From my experience I get faster results from the B12
Hey Guys, I stumbled on something at wallyworld. They have a product called Berryman B-12 Chemtool. I googled it when I got home. It looks like a stronger seafoam. Tons on it and only 3 bucks a can vs 7 or 8. The only thing I did not see is if it is also a fuel stabilizer. Have not gone that far. Guys say Berrymans is stronger then seafoam, which I am a big fan of. Not sure but when I run out I am going to give it a whirl!
Sea Foam has cleared up many problems with all of my engines. If Berryman's works as well, but is cheaper I will give it a try. I may keep Sea Foam around for the boat, I want the fuel stabilizer there.
I am not sure if its a stabilizer as well. I agree, seafoam has been a go to for a long time. Wouldn't it be nice to save 5 or 6 bucks a can? LOL. I have 2 cans of seafoam left so its going to be a little while. If others want to do some research the more the merrier!
Yes I have five cars and yes all five cars run and I would not hesitate to take any of them on a long trip. The key is knowing which car needs what repair and when each car needs to have the state inspection done or be registered for the next year. Often I feel like a juggler.

When I worked for Wal-Mart, WE always had problems keeping B-12 in stock on the shelves, About 3x the the sales of the SeaFoam. (somebody likes it). Most store's plans call for it to be stocked on the top shelf. So look up...
I have used both seafoam and Berryman B-12 Chemtool. Not sure what the rave is on either. I never noticed a difference between the two and straight gas. They use to sell snake oil cure all`s in the 1800`s, but who knows they might work:D. Whatever makes you feel good. I have even tried all the fuel and carb cleaners in my automobiles. Never noticed a difference on them either. Maybe it is just my bad luck.
I don't think well maintained vehicles / equipment, used regularly and with good fresh clean fuel, will notice much benefit from products like Seafoam. Rough running, dirty carbs, old fuel, engines that have been sitting, I think those may be noticeably helped with fuel additives.

I agree a well maintained car or tractor that is used regularly with fresh gas won't see much if any improvement with Sea Foam. Since several of my cars will sit for weeks at a time I keep Sea Foam in the tank to help stabilize the fuel.
Currently I have two cars, two tractors , one boat one jet ski and one trailer. Since I plan to sell the jet ski and boat next spring and if we are now trying to see who has the least, I think I am in the lead.
so i have just experienced the power of seafoam engine treatment in my truck, go-kart, lawn mower and tractor and was wondering if many people have used it in their bikes. i want to try it in my old yamaha trials bike to see if it will help it a little bit. any experience with it on bikes?
it is a nasty fuel system/crankcase cleaner that works almost instantaneously when poured down a major vacuum line and then let it sit then fire it back up again (in a car). I have poured it down the throat of small engine carbs and it has helped a lot too.
I did the Sea Foam treatment on my truck through the vacuum lines. I accidentally smoked out some people's apartment (they left the windows open lol) and got a crap load of stares on the streets when I was blowing huge plumes of smoke. I mean it was BAD. I live in a yuppy area so it was great humor to see people stare as bad as they did. Unfortunately the effects didn't last that long though. Like 3-5 minutes.
1 ounce a gallon for the Honda generator, gas blower, stihl brush cutter and the KTM. I get faster starting and a smoother idle in the small single cylinder engines. When I replaced valves the KLX after 4000 miles, the piston top wiped clean with a rag. I pulled seafoam spiked gas out of the generator after 3 years, mixed it with oil, and have been using it in the blower and chainsaws. It's still good fuel.
I've used it to clean out exhausts before, I had a Honda Express with a solid clogged muffler, so I poured a bunch of that in there, let er set and then torched the heck out of it. A little in the gas tank always helps.
it says on the can, not a lot. i made the mistake and put a whole can into my old mc when it was running like shit, turned out i was empty of gas and was driving off nothing but seafoam! carbs needed attention afterwards, all 4 of em.
Walmart sells seafoam by the can. it's about the size fo your normal carb cleaner can but it's not aerosol. It's about $6 a can and well worth it. I know a lot of people that swear by it and now I do too.
I drive a '79 Ford (it's painted seafoam green too!) and was having throttle and choke problems this winter. I could not get the choke to disengage even when it was 50 degrees out and the engine was warmed up! I added a can of seafoam to a full tank of gas and bam. She's never run better.
Says on the can you can use it in gasoline engines, diesel, motor oil, lawn mowers, dirtbikes, boats, etc. I've used it in my mopeds to help stabilize old gas and to prevent my carbs from gunking up. For example, I had an almost full tank of gas on my Murray when I parked it last year. Added some seafoam to it before winter and I just fired it up today. Ran like a champ.
also for cleaning parts goof off is awesome too its almost the same as the seafoam and b12 but doesnt have the conditioners in it so it will eat rubber and some plastic parts so use it to clean metal parts but dont mix with gas or oil
i got turned on to sea foam by a mechanic friend of mine. he had acquired a citroen diesel that hadn't run for 15 years. he put some in the tank w/ clean diesel, and it started and ran well after about 15 minutes. i used it on my mercedes that hadn't run for 25 years--same thing. i love the stuff. i'm gonna get a 60's cub tonight, and i'll seafoam it as well.
