Job Description:
The Department of Core Studies at Watkins College of Art, Design and Film is currently seeking a dynamic Part-time Faculty member to co-teach a 6-credit, year-long interdisciplinary foundations course called Core I. In Core I students learn how to communicate ideas across a breadth of creative disciplines through drawing, 2D Design, 3D Design and 4D Design projects. Students explore the formal elements and principles of design in relation to themes, studio practice, ideation and concept development, hands-on digital techniques, craft, problem-solving processes, collaboration, presentation, critique and writing.
The candidate must be comfortable with interdisciplinary education and be passionate about integrated foundations. Applicants from Graphic Design, Interior Design, Photography, Filmmaking and Fine Arts are welcome to apply.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach Core I course curriculum
Collaborate with faculty and college as necessary to develop projects course materials
Maintain all appropriate class records
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The ideal candidate will be experienced in two to three of the following areas:
Graphic design
Interior design
Filmmaking
Fine Arts
Photography
Candidates must possess hands-on and digital skills in at least three areas: drawing, 2D Design, 3D Design and 4D Design. Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut or Premiere are preferable.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
MFA
Evidence of a minimum of two years of successful teaching experience at the college or university level
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with a diverse student population are required.
