Autumn courses are ready to go!

It’s that time of year, again, and I’m happy to welcome you back to AAEP 1600. To new Instructors, welcome! To returning Instructors, welcome back!

 

I won’t  much of your time, except to tell you that your Carmen course sites are loaded and ready to go.

 

If you are new to the course our curricular resources are located at http://aaep1600.osu.edu

 

All activities are in carmen, arranged by the week.

 

I have attached a copy of Instructor policies. If you are new you will want to read it.

 

The only task left for you to do is to set up your groups:

Here is how:

 

1. Click “People” (left side)
2. Click the “Groups” tab
3. Click the white plus sign “+” button
4. Add as many groups as you like. (I have four groups with 12 or 13 students in each. I have found that this makes it easier for students to do their 7 responses for discussions.)
5. Drag student names from the left column directly on to the group name.

 

Any students labeled “Inactive” on the roster have dropped the course.

I'm not seeing the course in my Carmen, though; could I not be on the list yet, or is it not published yet?

I've been looking at the textbook, doing the readings, and familiarizing myself with the set up for the class. I really like how you've put all this together!

Thanks for the clear instructions.  I do hope I’ve covered everything properly.  I believe I’ve activated my course section and have sent an announcement to all the students (which I broke into 5 groups of 11 which I should imagine should be plenty to ensure they all have timely initial postings to which they’ll be able to respond.

 

As always, PLEASE let me know if there are any matters that I need to address, as I really NEED to earn some decent SEIs and I’m never quite sure how to earn those in this course.

Hello all,

My name is Rawon Lee (I go by Lawon) and I’m one of the instructors for ARTEDUC 1600 online for this semester. I just compiled a very “nutshell” one-page weekly schedule chart for my use and thought that it might also be useful to some other instructors as well. (see attached). I’m not sure if it will be as useful for lecture instructors as well, but please feel free to use it if you find it useful as you send out your weekly emails, announcements etc. Also, please let me know if you find that corrections need to be made, so that we can all benefit!
