Carmen problems

Hello folks:

I have received a few messages from instructors who are preempted from grading because of the Carmen outage.

My main advice is so long as you got your graduating senior grades submitted we have flexibility with other students.

I'll keep you posted as I hear more.

In the way of an update, Carmen is still out. Those of us that had our grading done early are in the clear.

If you have not finished grading yet tell me so I can watch your back.

I found this update to share with you:

Service Alert

The national/international outage of Canvas has been resolved; however, Ohio State’s instances remain in maintenance mode out of an abundance of caution while we assess any potential impact to campus services and data. This means CarmenCanvas and Canvas for Professional and Continuing Education continue to be temporarily unavailable while Ohio State IT reviews the impact of the cybersecurity incident of Instructure, the vendor behind Canvas. This extra caution aligns with the timing of our finals and academic year closing.

We expect to bring the Ohio State's Canvas instances back online as we complete each evaluation. We realize the outage is very disruptive, but we appreciate your continued patience. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update our System Status page as we learn more.

No sooner than my last update, and email lands in my Inbox announcing that Carmen is restored.

And it is true.

So, take a deep breath, get a drink of water, and KEEP GRADING!!
