     It's cold
here!  And probably is also very cold where you are!  Of course, it's
winter, so what can we expect!  They keep saying that it is unusually
cold.  I remember it being cold, in houses that had no insulation or cental
heat!  Those old timey heaters, that popped, and sometimes smelled like
gas, did a good job of keeping us from freezing during cold winters.  It
hasn't been so long ago that we were complaining about the heat and lack of
rain!  Summer heat will be here before we know it!
I hope you enjoy my little story
with memories of New Years Day in Calvert.
I was telling my stories to a young medical student
last week and I couldn't decided if he was amused or bored!  He acted
polite, but his mouth was trying really hard to not smile!  He kept turning
away, when his mouth would turn up at the corners.  I wondered if he was
trying to be professional!  Maybe they told him he had to be serious!
My doctor had asked me to talk to him while she finished with another
patient.  So, I tried to entertain and educate him.  Not like my shy
self.  He wasn't talking, so I did!  I thought it might help him some
time, just like the dr. helped him by explaining everything from how my heart
sounds different to the new computer program that has challenged her.
He said he wants to be a Navy doctor,
so maybe that will rule out listening to old ladies stories and their health
problems in his future career.
Check out the groups I have started on
Facebook and Yahoo for Calvert, Texas, Calvert High School Trojans alumni, and
Brazos Valley Sketchers.  I also added some old photos to the Hearne High
School group on Facebook.  I don't know who any of those people are, except
Thelma, but, hopefully, someone will know who they are.
The next Sketch Crawl will be Saturday
February 27.  I hope that we can all go out and do this one!  Any
suggestions for how to get folks together and where to go?  Spread the
word, and, if you aren't in this area, try to do it in your part of the
world.  Or, at least, pass the information on to anyone who might be
interested.
This looks like good weather to
curl up in front of a fireplace or heater, with some hot soup, or hot
chocolate.  Maybe a trip to Cocoamoda in Calvert, with a pot of their hot
chocolate, would be nice!
Hope that 2010 is a great year for
you!  Keep warm!
Cecelia
