Dear Rob Hilken,
First to drop in this week is
Bast's 'Neil Blender (Red)' print, named after the legendary 80s skater who pretty much invented the idea of infusing art into the world of skate board decks. Neil never took things too seriously, notoriously pulling antics at pro competition events that would disqualify him, such as stopping mid-run to spray paint a character on the ramp. He finally walked away at the height of his career in the late 80s to explore other avenues of creativity, which is coincidentally just around the time that
Bast started hitting up the streets of his native Brooklyn...
Meanwhile, over on the Left Coast,
Kelsey Brookes has been putting his degree in sciences to good use with a series of experiments with genetics, or for the academically challenged, swapping the heads on a bunch of
Chimera Figurines. He also sent over a few of his awesome
'Sink' and
'Swim' prints, available for only £85.
More animal antics from the Wild Wild West, courtesy of
Dave Kinsey's 'Unrested (Dogs)' print. It's been a while since we heard from Kin Z, he seems to have been avoiding us after we sent him over to Newcastle to learn how to drink. This print serves as a timely reminder (and an accurate metaphorical depiction) of his educational experiences and battles with Brown Ale in the Land of Dog.
Finally, in case you've not seen these on the website we've got some
'Trolley Hunters' signed prints from an up and coming film-maker called
Banksy, whose debut
'Exit Through The Gift Shop' features some bloke called Lazarides and is currently showing at cinemas across the UK.
