We are seeking an experienced z/OS System Programmer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe infrastructure management to join our team and take end-to-end ownership of the enterprise mainframe environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of z/OS systems and associated infrastructure components while ensuring high availability, security, and reliability of mission-critical applications. The role requires strong expertise in core z/OS subsystems including JES2/JES3, SDSF, ISPF, VTAM, and TCP/IP, along with deep hands-on experience in SMP/E processes including RECEIVE, APPLY, and ACCEPT activities for software maintenance and PTF management. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) and IODF updates, capacity planning methodologies, and system performance analysis using SMF and RMF/CMF reports to ensure efficient resource utilization and performance tuning.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting ISV products, administering Unix System Services (USS) environments including file systems, daemons, and shell environments, troubleshooting complex system issues across the mainframe stack, and participating in on-call support rotations for critical incidents. This role requires close collaboration with application, network, and security teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions while maintaining accurate documentation, change records, and operational procedures aligned with ITIL practices. Additionally, the individual will participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution activities to ensure business continuity. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills are essential for success in this position. Experience with RACF administration, including user and group management, dataset security, and auditing, as well as exposure to z/VM administration, guest configuration, and performance tuning will be considered a strong advantage.
