Namaskaram  to  all  :                                                                                                                                                                                     by  some  strange  co-incidence ,  i  happened  to  be  the  18th  member  to  join  this  group  ;  i  sincerely  wish  i  enrich  my  knowledge  of  the  18  chapters  by  following  the  discussions  of  learned  members  of  this  group  ;                                                                                                                                                                      i  thought  i  would  post  the  valuable   introductory   lines  of  Jagadguru  Adi  S'ankara   written   at  the  beginning  of  Gita  Bhashya  :

S'rimad Bhagavad Gita  ---- Adi S'ankara's Introductory  Lines                                                                                                                                                                 &n bsp;                                       1.  This   Science  of   Gita   is   the   Quintessence  of  Ve'da  (  idam    gita-s'aastram    samasta-ve'daartha-saara-sangraha-bhutam  )
2.  The   Purpose  of   Gita   is   to  set   forth   the    Summum Bonum   i.e., Moksha  ,  which  consists   in   the   total   cessation  of  the  Transmigratory  Life   (   prayojanam    param   nis's're'yasam    sa-he'tukasya    samsaarasya    atyant-oparama-lakshan'am  )                                                                                                                                                                                                           3.  Since   Gita's  Mastery   yields   All   Values   of   Life   ,  I   am  endeavouring   to   explain   Gita    (  tad-artha-vijxaane'   samasta-purushaartha-siddhihi  )
&nbs p;                                     isn't  it  the  best   introduction  to  Gita  ?                                                                                                            1. if  we study  Gita  ,  it  is  equal  to  studying  Ve'da                                                                                          2.  Gita's  purpose  is  the  attainment  of  the  highest  good                                                                            3. Gita's  mastery  gives  all  purushaarthas                                                                                                                                                                                                              ------  what  else  does  one   need  ?
