Hi!

In the apartment we have mold in the ceilings of the toilets and the office also has a smell of humidity and mold. I have an allergy to mold and I'm quite sure by now that it is producing a reaction for me. If it remain the same I can possibly get really sick. Could we please figure out a way to better the conditions?

We will try to clean up the mold in the ceilings by ourselves, but I would suggest to also install a fan to the office to suck air out (in the window that is in the material samples storage area).

Regards,
Taavi

Taavi,

I am really sorry but it's not going to be possible to install a ventilation system in the team's studio as that would require a significant investment in a space that we are most likely going to leave in one month's time. Thus, even though it is not ideal for you to work in a separate room, I suggest you do move to my office and work from there. If that is still not good for your health please inform me. Regarding the flat, let me know as well if you guys manage to remove the mould from the toilet and whether the conditions improve sufficiently for you to be ok. Finally, let me just say that if this allergy is so serious to your health, you should have noted it when asked about your medical conditions in the registration form so that we could have taken the necessary precautions or otherwise inform you that they were impeding of your participation.

Hope you get better fast and let me know if need anything else

Jose

Your office seems to have a little better climate, but it doesn't make sense for me to work there separately from everyone else.

At the moment I have taped one of the heater-fans into the little window in the material samples room, but we cannot cannot leave it on for the night, so it's hard to say if it actually helps. It should be quite easy to change one of the window panels with a fan that we can keep running all the time.

I don't know if that's even a good solution but let's keep it in mind and try to figure something out when you come by the office.

I haven't had problems with that since I was about 7 years old, because in Estonia the mold problem only shows up in very old houses. The previous time I was in Porto, I didn't understand that mold is a common problem here, at least all the places I went to were not moldy.

At the same time, I don't really know what it will cause for me because it was such a long time ago. If I'm lucky it might be just a runny nose and a sore throat that's totally manageable, but it could develop into a pneumonia, breathing problems, ear infections etc. But at the moment I just don't know how it will go.

I'll try to take the precautions that don't take much effort and see how it goes.
