I have three official Minecraft accounts (me and my two kiddos). I just started up Technic to run our modpack we've made, and the one computer did it just fine, but the other two are giving me this error. I've tried logging into Microsoft for both computers, and that works totally fine. When I open the Technic launcher, it asks me to add a Microsoft account. When I click that, it opens up a webpage in Chrome, asking me to login to Microsoft. I do that, then it says it did it correctly and I can close that page. I go back to the launcher, and it says "Failed to authenticate with XBox for Minecraft".

EDIT: I just tried using the regular Minecraft launcher for my own account. It said it was unable to verifying the products I own, and to check my internet connection... My internet is just fine. So I tried logging out and back in, and that didn't help. It's now telling me, using my own account, that I need to purchase Minecraft, even though I already own it with the account that is logged in.

But this issue is not for any other launcher. Regular Minecraft works fine, we can join any server. Other launchers work fine, I can use Badlion Client, Voids Wrath (another modded version), etc. Which only leaves the possibility that Technic relies on some assets from minecraft.net, that seemingly no other launcher relies on. I'm not a very technical person so I don't know anything about that, but it seems like other launchers have fixed this, is it unsolvable in this context?

There's multiple reasons for bad login. All of them are either an issue on Mojang's or the user's end. It is not a launcher issue. See -login-error-on-some-older-modpacks.157 for the reason why everyone is getting bad logins recently on old Minecraft versions. As this explains the issue you and everyone else has been experiencing lately.

To clarify an inaccuracy, the default response for bad login is to log out of the launcher then log back in. Restarting the game does nothing. There's no FAQ for this since 95% of the people reporting issues with bad logins are using cracked launchers or have used them in the past and still have stuff laying around interfering with the login process.

After doing some digging I realized that inside .technic/cache/org/scala lang all of the seperate folders in there are missing the jar files and if i throw my backed up scala lang folder in there it works fine

When you first open the launcher it logs you into the minecraft.net authentication servers, if you sit at the launcher screen for a few hours then try to play there's a pretty good chance that login it did back when you ran the program will have expired - when you connect to a server in that situation and the server contacts minecraft.net it will be told "This player isn't currently logged in so they couldn't possibly be connecting to your server: Bad Login".

Some people lose their auth connection only minutes after running B-Team, though as far as I know no-one has isolated exactly why. If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably some firewall or antivirus software on the computer they're using, in the modem/router they're using or perhaps at the ISP - it only needs to break the connection for an instant though for minecraft.net to give up on it, it won't try to reconnect on its own - you need to force it (close the launcher and open it again so it logs back in). If it's the ISP and they're working on something their end which is dropping the connection regularly then it'd make sense for it to not work until they've stopped doing that (which is why I guess for some people it doesn't work whatever they do, then works fine the next day).

I'm trying to play on my friend's server. We all use the technic launcher with the 1.7.10 pack. When I launch the game using the technic launcher and its mod packs, I try to connect to the server but it gives me a "Failed to login. The authentication are currently down for maintenence."

When I attempt to connect to a random server on the vanilla launcher (Non technic) I can connect fine. Currently, my other friends can connect but I cannot. The server status for authentication is online, and has been all day. I waited a few hours, and still no fix. Can anyone help?

Today I downloaded the launcher for Technic. I want to go play Tekkit Classic with my friends. I tried to play the game and it loads a bunch of things, but then an error message comes up, and I can't play it. This happens to everything in the launcher

There is another way to fix this, if disabling the antivirus doesn't solve it... Try downloading one pack from the Platform, after that fails post the error log. This will tell me why it blocks the launcher

I had the same problem. I tried Swinter's solution but it didnt work for me. but i found a solution that may work. If you unplug your router or turn of your internet and then open technic launcher in offline mode my mods that i had already loaded opened perfectly. the only downside is your cant use servers as far as i can tell. hope this works for you.

Same! Except my login will open a Google Chrome page for signing into Minecraft with my Microsoft account. I'm already logged in there, so then it says that they received the authentication code and I can close the page. Then I get the error message saying it failed. I don't know what to do

solution found by skeltn

Close technic then follow these1. Hit "Windows" key on your keyboard2. Type "%APPDATA%", it should select appdata folder, press enter to open the folder3. open .technic folder4. Delete the oauth folder

I have NO idea what this means or why I am getting it. I have changed Nothing with my OS, or my "security software" - there hasn't even been an update today of said software. It's not windows specific, because I see someone on reddit with the same problem who is on a mac. Also, the launcher icon on my desktop disappeared after that fail and error message. ?? (so odd.)

alright, so my issue is, I've been trying really hard to put together a modpack for me and my friends to use that include all of the mods we wanna play with as i couldn't find one that had all of them, but when i try and download it, it tells me that it failed and to contact the mod author, how do i fix this?! --- heres a link to my modpack

I use to use technic all the time. I stopped playing Minecraft about a year ago. Just opened technic back up, but now every modpack I try to play, anytime I try to join a server I get the invalid session (please restart game and launcher) error. Yes I have tried multiple times to close game and launcher and reopen. I tried opening the laucnher, logging out of my account and logging back in. I tried restarting my computer. I turned off my firewall to make sure it wasn't blocking it. I have tried everything I have found online to work through it. I do not have mulitple instances open. I cannot figure out why it will not let me connect to any server.

A. This is because your launcher is using 32 bit Java. If you have a 32 bit operating system then that is what you are limited to sorry. If you have a 64 bit system, download 64 bit Java. Minecraft will usually recognize the most recently installed Java and your memory options will be increased. (We don't recommend allocating more than 2GB however.)

A. Go to and click "Modpacks" at the top. Click "browse modpacks" to see the list. When you find one you're interested in, copy the platform url, open your launcher, click "add new modpack" and hit paste. You can change where you install the pack if you'd like, or you can just add it right away if you don't need to do that. Select it from your pack bar and launch.

A. The logs folder can be found by clicking the Gear in the upper right hand corner and then clicking the Logs button. If you cannot even open the launcher, to get to your logs you will have to go to your Technic Launcher folder (See first question) and then go into the /logs/ folder inside.

The logs are named techniclauncher_year-month-day so the latest one will be the current date. Please use the most relevant date of logs to report a problem. Please use pastebin.com service to post your log! Copy-pasting a full log text onto your thread is a mess! Copy-paste your log text onto pastebin and post the link in your bug report!
