Thanks Marcia, you had me going there for a moment. I don't know
about the Fire Pond.

While we're on the subject, here are some words for the ATC.

Fire pond? I don't have anything on the agenda for that. In my mind
it is dead. The town can decide to do what it wants with it. There
are several Town Board vs. FD. vs citizens still unresolved, and to
my knowledge, not in the works with any kind of alacrity. I don't
think we should waste the money on the wrought iron gateway of
Frank's if it just opens up to a grassy area with 2 picnic tables
and nothing else, like landscaping, any kind of activities
installed, possibly with restrictive rules on use from the town
and/or FD, etc. Maybe we can still put up a sign out by the road on
the existing post but we have never heard any kind of comments, let
alone an approval, by the town to do that. A pic of what was
proposed is attached. We tried, let's move on to something else.

Next: Where is the Shagbark downtown trees/landscaping progress that
has been talked about for two years? Those working on that, let's
get things done please. A vendor has been nice enough to donate.
Let's respect that and act on it.

The bulletin board area has had nothing done since the General Store
owners have plans for the area. I would still love to build a double
sided new display box (one side for town postings and locked and the
other side open for the public) for the BB and paint it the town
colors. I may work on it and swap the boxes when done. If there are
any carpenters out there in need of a fun project, take this on and
leave your mark in town.

What else? The planters for the bridges would be nice but the
project needs someone to step up and volunteer to get it done and
that includes making sure there is some kind of watering schedule
for them. Anyone out there that wants to oversee having maybe 10
planters, like 1/2 barrel size for the ground and/or rectangular to
hang on the railings, created and placed and maintained, please step
forward? Any donations for it among anyone working at a landscape or
floral company would be nice. How about one of the places included
in the EABs produced Farmers Market Brochure that should help their
business? It will be out next week. SOMEBODY - some flowers, pots,
dirt, a few hours of work and you just did something great to make
the downtown look more beautiful.

I am sure there are more things needed if I think about it, like
more and better marketing of Copake among the county and state
publications. That could start with a town brochure like many other
towns have and a tourism/visitor slanted town website like many
other towns have). Pull together the Hamlets with a marketing
piece. "What do you feel like doing today? Pick a Hamlet and
Explore". Like the Catamount Ropes Course. That should be a huge
attraction.

That's enough said. Again, volunteers out there are needed for the
above and other projects. Unless the work force among the ATC
expands, the ATC will shrink. We need many to step up and pitch in.

Thanks everyone for enduring my spontaneous thoughts. When the mood
to write strikes you, you have to act.

If you're reading this you are on the ATC email list. There are
about 55 on it but only maybe 10 have been active. What can you do
to make Copake a better place?

Mike
