The subject says it all: I tried rekonq and arora. Liked arora a bit
more, but it has two problems (that I already reported as bugs) that I
dislike: too often, if I close a tab, the entire program crashes; and
when I press CTRL, to open a new tab with T or to open a link in a new
tab clicking on the link, the access-keys shows up. Until now, didn't
find a way to solve them.

So I switched to rekonq, which is almost as good as arora, but lacking
Gmail support.

The question is: is there a piece of code that enables arora to work
with Gmail properly? How can I change rekonq source code to achieve
the same?

Thank you in advance.

what linux version do you have and tell us what you see in the about
box ? in latest qt versions the gmail close crash bug doesn't exist

ctrl can be disabled , i will try to make it disabled by default in
the next versions in github
is annoying and slow when you have hundreds of links

It should be enabled only when accessible technology is enabled in
gnome/kde

here is how to disable it in the stable version

the version from github does have a setting in the options

I will try to compile from source. I have debian squeeze/sid with KDE
4.4.5 and QT 4.7. Arora (from debian unstable, 10.something I believe)
scores 100/100 on acid 3, but the image rendering doesn't quite match
the reference one, but this is a minor thing.

Will try with the git source code.

Thank you.

PS: why arora works with gmail and rekonq not?

The latest version of the Qt-webkit example browser works with gmail.
Maybe the
rekonq sources are getting stale? My guess is that if you build it
with the
latest sources, the problem may go away.

As for the access keys showing up, there's a slight delay so you just
have to
be quick about it. I think it's an interesting feature, but I agree
there should
be an option to re-map it to alt, caps-lock or some slightly less
heavily used key.

This is alpha-version software, expect crashes and help the developers
out by
submitting detailed bug reports.
