🌻 생명의 향기 • 자존감을 발달시킴 🌻

우리가 영혼들에게 선을 행하기를 바란다면, 이 영혼들에 대한 우리의 성공은 그들에 대한 우리의 믿음과 이해에 비례될 것이다. 

힘겹게 싸우는 영혼에게 나타내는 존경은 그 사람으로 하여금 잃어버린 자존감을 예수 그리스도를 통하여 회복하도록 하는 확실한 수단이 된다.

그가 어떤 사람이 될 수 있을지에 대해서 앞당겨 생각하게 된다면, 그것은 우리 자신도 충분히 깨달을 수 없는 도움이 될 수 있다.

원칙이 양보되지 않는 곳에서는 어디서나, 다른 사람에 대한 배려의 차원에서 일반에게 인정된 관습을 따를 수도 있다. 그러나 참된 예절은 세상의 관습을 따르기 위하여 원칙을 희생하도록 조금도 요구하지 않는다. 

그것은 계급 제도를 무시한다. 그것은 자존감, 즉 인간을 존엄성을 가진 자로 존경하고 한 인류라는 대가족의 일원으로 생각하도록 가르친다.

If we wish to do good to souls, our success with these souls will be in proportion to their belief in our belief in, and appreciation of, them. 

Respect shown to the struggling human soul is the sure means through Christ Jesus of the restoration of the self-respect the man has lost. 

Our advancing ideas of what he may become are a help we cannot ourselves fully appreciate.

Wherever principle is not compromised, consideration of others will lead to compliance with accepted customs; but true courtesy requires no sacrifice of principle to conventionality. 

It ignores caste. It teaches self-respect, respect for the dignity of man as man, a regard for every member of the great human brotherhood.
